| Happy to get your feedback! As you can imagine, I have lots of responsibilities so I can only check in to your comments once in a while. As I often post about tech related things, I do have developers check the comments in case they missed something.
If you have a site question, please use the online feedback form (under Help) to contact customer service as I do not read my blog daily. You can also read more about bug fixes and site status at the sitesupport blog or new things at the community blog. |

Active blog list now based on non-poll comments

Based on what seems popular opinion for blogs, the active list now only uses unique commentors on non-polls for ranking. Eventually, we will probably add a smaller factor for poll comments. Perhaps in the next release, we will be moving the top poll list over to the magazine - and use it as a way to help promote the blog section of the site.

Please give your blog keyword/phrases lists for new browse

Getting closer to release a new way to browse blogs that is based on keywords. Sure, we already have a search form but it has one drawback in that many people don't know what to search for when wanting to "browse" blog posts.
The new way needs your help. Want to get a list of popular phrases that people might look for when looking through blogs - given this list, whenever a post matches one, we can automatically tag it to show up when someone searches for that phrase. I already found the 4000 most common words used by bloggers but as they are too generic (e.g., thoughts, love, passion, lips, pleasure, couples), they don't reflect the wider nature of our blogs here.
What we need is a long list of 1,2,3 word phrases that you'd be interested in seeing in a page that if you clicked on them, you'd get the most relevant posts on that "topic". Just come up with a big list and post it in this thread. I'll combine them and tag all the posts to see what it looks like. New posts by bloggers would automatically get tagged if they contain any word in this list. After going live, we'll get your feedback on how it works. Thanks!

Thoughts about polls

There has been alot of discussion about the pros/cons of polls. From my observation, it seems that people do like the ability to occasionally create a poll. However, bloggers don't want the polls to be given the same weight as text posts in the list of "active" blogs. They also don't want blogs which are mostly polls to get extra visitors just because they are polls.
In the next week, I'll change the counting system to count a comment in a poll less than a comment in a post. Note: votes are NOT used to measure activity. In a couple weeks, the 'popular polls' section will move to the magazine section of the site.

Added ability to delete a response within 30 minutes of post

Part of an oversight when adding ability for premium members to comment directly to posts was letting you delete them within 30 minutes - in case typos/etc. Well, this was added.
Also, the comment counter was upgraded to only show unique posts (not responded posts) in a blog... so you shouldn't see "3 new" posts if they are only yours.

Best way to find interesting blogs?

I want people to think of this site as their top resource for all things sexy, naughty, and wild. While blogs are a key part of this, we can do better at organizing them so people can find the authors and topics that interest them. Would love to get your thoughts on how we could do it. Some ideas could be: let bloggers define keywords (e.g., "tags" ) for each post and then have people search for these keywords bloggers could define general topics (similar to our topical groups) and subtopics under those, then submit their posts in those categories. Other people could browse the topics and read individual posts below that group. bloggers could define a few topic categories within their blog. These categories could be listed on a page in order of activity. What do you think would be a good way to organize blogs?

As many have reported, we had issues with some of the older posts not retaining their spacing when the new HTML tags were added. We believe that we just fixed it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Now for some St. Patrick beer!!!

You can now put HTML tags in your posts by using angle brackets ([ and ]) instead of less than and greater than. We'll be testing it live for a few days to see how the tags are working. Here's an example of some things you can do.
Playing with tables | Numerical list: one two three This is underlineSome fonts: Times Size 5 Verdana Bold Comic Sans MS WildWest Red
Light Blue BackgroundPadded 10 Pixels Border 3 Pixels |
| luvpump | Green | luvpump |
Generated using:

Playing with tables

Numerical list/b] [li]one [li]two [li]three This is underline[p] Some fonts/b][ul] Times Size 5[br] Verdana Bold[br] Comic Sans MS[br] WildWest Red[/ul] [bg bgcolor=lightblue cellpadding=10 width=80% border=3] Light Blue[br]Background[p] Padded 10 Pixels[br] Border 3 Pixels [/bg] [photo luvpump]

Green [member luvpump]

For those wondering how to show the actual commands in a page, put a \ in front of the bracket as in \[ or \].

As many people have heard, we are releasing some new features for blogs this week. Normally, we do updates on Wednesday first (we roll out on different sites one by one). While some of the smaller sites are upgraded, the team wanted to push the changes on Thursday instead for this site. I'll make a post when it's live tomorrow.

New blog features coming later this week

In an effort to let people know more what's in the development pipeline, wanted to let you know some things that will hopefully go live later this week:
- premium level blog owners will be able to put comments directly under any post in their blog (instead of appending to the list of posts). A popup form is used to they can respond without having to scroll to bottom and reload the blog thread each time. Also modified the look of quoted text to go above the comment.
- "See Where I'm Quoted" page - will show the most recent places where someone has quoted you or has responded to your posts. This will be more important once the blog owners have easier way to respond (see above).
- Preview mode (you will be able to see what the post will look like before it goes live)
- Posters can delete their posts within 30 minutes of making it (I was almost done with letting people edit the post but realized that with the new "preview" mode, editing is less important).
- A bunch of new HTML-like support (tables, fonts, backgrounds, etc)

Tell us how to improve the blogs

As you might have noticed, we made a few changes (perhaps even upgrades) to the blogs this past weekend. Changes were: 3x faster page loads, basic polls, some minor formating changes on the main page, watch blogs/posts with changes since your last visit now show up in yellow, and real-time viewing of posts for and by premium members (beta mode). Our development team had been busy with some site intergrations (fastcupid.com and fastcupid.com but are now back 100% on improving this site. We want your opinions on what you'd like to see in the blogs. For non-blog ideas, please either email me or use the feedback form (yes, we read and compile each email).
